BTW. How do you get rid of that damn monitor buzz? I am a bedroom jammer and I have no space to get away from it.

I turn the screen off when tracking...CRT's and passive pickups are not the best friends around hehe

will a flat screen monitor be likely to make less noise than an old blocky one?

i have this problem as well, and always have to turn my monitor on/off while tracking guitars

Yes flat monitors lcd have less noise, try to lift the ground of your monitor.
