Sword - Metalized reissue

It's also available at NEH Records (European Import: KRECD28 ).

One of my all time favorites and my favorite Canadian metal album. I've got an original release from Aquarius from the 80s.

I also got a copy of the best of Sword (which they destroyed in the remastering phase).

Yeah I already ordered it (hasn't arrived yet). All the biggest online stores here have it listed so I'm quite sure it's the real thing. It's just that I haven't come across this album on CD previously and never heard of the record company so it kinda set off some alarm bells.

Hope they re-release the second album as well.

Is Sweet Dreams anywhere as good as Metalized?
Such a shame they did so few releases.

Sadly, no...For me, Sweet Dreams was a huge letdown after the killer Metalized disc. I only like a few songs from SD, while I think Metalized is killer all over and a 80s metal classic.

I may get this one. Finally listened to it and sounds interesting.

As mentioned, Sweet Dreams is a step down. Still a good album, but nothing compared to the majesty of Metalized.

Singer Rick Hughes later resurfaced in an "all-star" band of sorts called Saints and Sinners who were awesome. Their disc was produced by Aldo Nova and mixed by Paul Northfield (who assisted QR's Empire and Steelheart's S/T - both fantastic productions).

Never thought of S&S as awesome...For what I remember, it was nothing like Sword, more commercial hard rock, maybe well done, but didn't cclick with me.

Thanks bud,I'll keep an eye open for that Saints and Sinners.

Quite rare these days. Goes for a pretty penny on ebay (indeed it's among the most I've ever spent on a CD, but I love the album). As mentioned, it's hard rock, sort of like Extreme meets Steelheart - a few "heavy" songs, but overall it's much more melodic than Sword.

I will probably order the album in a few days, I'm making a haul :D

Didn't he then move on to doing French pop music? I seem to remember seeing one or two vids back in the day...

Sword was a great band and Metalized is an AWESOME album!! I still have my vinyl copy. I'll have to pick it up on CD!! I actually saw them live when they were touring to support that record... I forget who they played with, but they kicked ass!!

Cheers!

You're right. He sings some French dull songs as far as I'm concerned and he was also of of the chorists for a terrible music show on TV locally (La Fureur) for several years...I know one guy has to pay his bills but it seems there is not much metal left in the man...

My copy arrived today. Thanks a lot to everybody for pointing this one out, it's a really enjoyable album.
