A quarter of a century ago, in a town south of Montreal called Saint Bruno, Rick and Dan Hughes decided they wanted to be in a heavy metal band. The singer and drummer respectively were joined by guitarist Mike Plant and bassist Mike Larock to form the thrash metal quartet known as Sword.

Sword released two albums for Aquarius in the mid to late 80s; the thundering ‘Metalized’ in 1986 and its equally heavy follow-up ‘Sweet Dreams’ in 1988. With their fierce riffs and pummeling drums, Sword earned the respect of their metal peers and fans around the world. Not only did they tour in support of Motörhead and Alice Cooper, but the group was hand picked to open for Metallica on the 1986 ‘Master of Puppets’ tour.

Now in 2006, Aquarius Records is proud to release "The Best of Sword", which will be in stores on Tuesday, October 31st. Sword’s mastery lives on in this solid twelve pack of fist-pumping, bar-brawling ear splitters culled from two gems from the classic age of metal.

The track listing is as follows:

1. Stoned Again
2. F.T.W.
3. Until Death Do Us Part
4. Outta Control
5. Runaway
6. Land of the Brave
7. Children of Heaven
8. Prepare to Die
9. State of Shock
10. Evil Spell
11. The Threat
12. Sweet Dreams

Damn good track list - although it's missing one of their biggest "Hits" - Trouble Is!

Yeah, I thought that was quite odd. Why release 2/3 of the albums as a best of? Both albums combined are under 80 mins.

I got a high quality Mp3 of the remastered tracks though and they do pack quite a punch.
