Andy B. Franck (vocalist) of Symphorce announced the breakup of Symphorce on his Facebook page today:

Bad new for all fans of German metallers SYMPHORCE. In the following statement the band announces their breakup:

"Thank you & lights out!

7 albums, 12 years and thousands of enthusiastic fans don't make that decision easy, but after long thoughts and lots of talks we decided together to call it a day and dissolve SYMPHORCE. The heads are dead, the timetables of our main bands packed with dates, so we feel a lack of inspiration and no possibility to record more albums, play more shows with the passion and commitment needed therefore. SYMPHORCE will always stand for an absolute independent type of metal, but with our latest (and last) album "Unrestricted" we had to recognize, that we have said everything we wanted musically. It was an unbelievable, intense and fantastic time! We thank you all for your long lasting loyalty and the enthusiasm you have shown to us. We will never forget all this for sure.
Of course, we will still remain with and in our other bands and will see us for sure somewhere somewhen on this planet. And therefore, ... lights off ...spotlights on!
All my heart, passion and soul is now one hundred percent Brainstorm, the new album "On The Spur Of The Moment" and the upcoming tours and festivals.
But anyhow...thanks for 12 fantastic years, thanks for the fulfillment of a dream! It was AMAZING!
STAY METAL"

Andy B. Franck

Sad to hear them break up.

That's the thing with me too... was never a huge Symphorce fan, but a pretty good Brainstorm fan.

That's probably their line of thinking towards their breakup .... why keep Symphorce alive when Brainstorm is probably the better of the two.

I haven't listened to Symphorce much the past couple of years, but there was a point I was actually into them more than I was Brainstorm. The first I ever owned was 2000's Sinctuary .. still probably my favorite from them. Brainstorm pulled ahead for me with 2001's Metus Mortis, which i still consider their best. Well anyway ... good luck to all parties involved and thanks for the music !!

It sucks they called it quits but its for the best...I was more partial to Brainstorm anyway. Glad I got see them at Progpower though before they quit.

agreed, Twice Second, Godspeed, and Become Death all struck me as great "modern metal" albums, whereas Brainstorm (even though I like a few of their albums too) always struck me as more throwback heavy metal. And don't get be wrong, because I'm not saying there's something wrong with that, but I just find it weird that they chose not to focus on the more "relevant" sounding band.

I thought Symphorce's early stuff was great. But really, Brainstorm is the better band for me. And having seen both live at PP, there's even less competition. Symphorce was good, but Brainstorm was GREAT live.

I've flip flopped between Symphorce and Brainstorm depending on the album. Gonna miss having the other option.

Definitely. But, I do love BRAINSTORM still. Even though I find the albums after Soul Temptation mediocre at best. Soul Temptation and Metus Mortis are incredible.
