Syncing live performance to video? How do?

Anyone have experience performing live with a video edited perfectly for the performance? What is the basic methodology?

My take is record the songs to a click and have the click as the audio track for the video and have a few/all members monitor the click during the performance.

IME, if the band plays the song correctly, the video stays in sync, the band plays "naturally" then the video looks rubbish. Just have the drummer play to the click and as long as everyone actually follows him/her then you should be fine.

play the whole show to the drummer's speed (with click), or whatever the portion you want sync'd with video.
Practice it.
Video tape it, and watch it back.
Then practice more.
