I just felt like doing something inspired by Devin Townsend, see where it takes me.

The drums and especially the bass don't sit so well at the moment and need work, but this is just progress from this morning.

Any thoughts?

EDIT:

Ok, I've worked on this a bit. I added Addictive Drums snare and a small amount of kick to the EZ Drummer DKFH. Guitars are louder, I rerecorded bass with a different setting. Snare sounds a bit better to me, but overall I don't know if I am feeling the mix is any better. What do you think?

I know u mentioned the drums in your original post, the but snare especially is far too cracky. It has not body to it at all, try a different sample on that and I think it will improve your mix alot. Also the guitars sound too much in the background and slightly centred. This might be fixed just by bringing up the volume of L/R guitars. Devins mixes always have the guitars right up the front so you can hear every chug.

Songwise I think its very cool man, great for something you just threw together!

Thanks for replying! Good, I will definitely work on the snare! I thought the guitars were almost too loud, so I turned them down a bit. I think it has a lot to do with the bass though, so it looks like I will be working on getting guitars and bass on track with each other.

Hello there, I have always liked the sounds of the synths with heavy guitars. Really liked your clip. Can you drop me a line about the synth, which one is??
I can hear a pad when the guitar comes in and it sounds really cool for my taste, but the lead one panned far left confuses me a bit... not sure if is that synth, but the guitars sounds a little centred.

I am using Native Instruments FM8 for both of the synths. My guitars always seem to sound more centered, yet I always pan the far left and right. Maybe I should try using a stereo imaging plug in?
