I've tried amanda, clonezilla, partimage, g4u, linbox and FOG. All are good. Homeserver restores a differential snapshot. Ends up being an order of magnitude faster. Still faster is running the boot vol off a an iSCSI mount to a zfs backend where I can keep multiple snapshots and regress a fully fucked image in less than 5sec.

How many of them have you tried?

Well, at least you've caught up to where *NIX systems were a few years ago - that's better than what used to be available.

Have you tried PBA? I'm still looking for a faster image restore system than a ghostcast server.
