Ok all!!!

I might look a little bit as a dork here but anyways...

I have ( naturally) heard of Tangerine Dream millions of times but never actually listened to them. This weekend I went to a record shop that was going out of business and picked up 2 TD albums for two dollars each. Figured I had nothing to lose at that price. After listening to both albums a couple of times I found myself really liking them.

I looked briefly on the web for info but it seems overwhelming and quite cumbersome to grasp for a layman.

Any input on these guys? What should I buy and what should I stay away from? It seems they have several different lineups and "eras" if you will.

Anything is greatly appreciated.

They are from 1994 and 1989 respectively: 'East' is a complete soundboard recording of a live performance in Berlin in 1990, whilst 'Architecture In Motion' is a soundtrack album (one of more than 65 that they have done!) And there's the rub - you are talking about a band with one of the most complex and perplexing discographies in the history of Progressive rock music.

As others have suggested, stick with the early classics from 'The Virgin Years' and steer clear of the rest. That is not to say that there is nothing else that is worthwhile, but you will drive yourself demented trying to get a grip on that which is!

Best of luck!!

Paul

Thank you Paul!

65 soundtrack releases sound quite intriguing.... :loco:

Yes, as I was trying to get a grip on their discography I did find it rather perplexing, hence the question on this forum.
