BTW, for Atlanta-area folks, Bartow, Fulton and Dekalb residents have until May 19th, I believe, to file. (Presidential disaster declaration due to the tornados.)
And as people always seem not know, you won't be getting the stimulus until May so don't freak out if you filed your 2 months ago and still haven't received it yet.
Actually, only some people will be getting the stimulus credit in May.
The schedule is based on the last two digits of your SSN and is posted at
www.irs.gov -- the latest batch of checks will be mailed out July 11th. Why the delay? It is impossible for Treasury/FMS to print that many checks in one week's batch, hence the staggered schedule.
Anyone who requested (or requests) direct deposit into their own bank account -- as opposed to an anticipation loan or something -- will receive the refund as a direct deposit in the first half of May. Then the paper checks will start.
Oddly enough, even if you owe, go ahead and put direct-deposit info on your return, because it could expedite your stimulus payment.
There's been a lot of misinformation about the stimulus payments, even from 'serious' media outlets.
Helpfully,
