Tech metal - Sikth/Dillinger/Tool

Cheers guys!

The kick is a blend of 3 kicks - One is machine head, one is arch enemy and the other one (the tail end just for the more natural sound) is a kick off the very first DFH (not superior) kick 6 i think.

Nothing done to the kick. Snare is the sneap snare, just with the cubase SX2 dynamic compressor and EQ boosted around 200hz ish...I think and a little high end boost.
I took off all the reverb from the original sample and blended it with another DFHS snare and put my own reverb on....yet again just the Cubase SX2 Reverb A

I'd be more specific with where I got the kick sounds from if I didn't think I'd get a big slap on the wrist

The sound at the start of the song is a Powerball ...not the amp, but the giro.
I was pissing off the bassist by doing it all day when I was mixing so decided to whack it at the start of the song to annoy him haha...

On another note, those things are soooo good! I always get RSI and since powerballing I've noticed a big improvement in my wrists!

Sounds great dude. I think the tone is great! Vintage 30's? SM57? Which pres on everything?

I like the dark guitars...I think they could be a *tad* louder. That monsterous sounding bass drum dominates! In a good way of course.

They're addictive!

Kick is a bit loud yeh! I find it hard turning kick drums down haha.
Also, don't know if you can hear but there's a few 'sub drop' samples that kinda made the whole track duck a bit when mastering

2 tracks of Deizel, 2 tracks of ENGL
Deizel - 100% left and right
ENGL - 80% left and right - roughly the same volume

Literally just a tiny amount of low and hi filters on the guitars, nowt else

Both heads went through a Peavey Triple XXX straight cab....I actually can't remember what speakers are in it :s
Miced up with a single SM57, no fancy mic pres or anything, just straight into my old M Audio USB interface.

Seizure. - The snare is already on the forum - it's the sneap snare!
I'll try and get the kick on this computer soon too

Sounds awesome. Must of been extremely tight players for double tracking in an hour!

Good work. As said, the kick is a little too loud, covers the bass on the lower riffing.
