I tried to lighten the mood with my brother by saying that if you've gotta get a prosthesis, an olde style wooden leg would be the coolest, far better than one of those modern ones.

It's kind of wierd thinking that when my dad passes away, I'll be the patriarch of the family.

yes it does bum me out, I can't want to think about losing a limb, I've known them all my life. but my dad has been going through these operations and he's just tired of both them and the recovery process.

so a simple amputation, then a period of time for the stump to acclimate, and then the fitting of the fake thing.
