Testing Royer R-101 and R-121

the 101 sounds like an old school guitar sound lol

Both nice, (as I already know having used a 121 over the years..) but something about that 101 is really cool... Kinda unique

Ha, funny to see my old thread bumped after so long.

In the years since, I bought an R-121, but to be honest, I don't even use it. I just use an SM57 these days when I need to record guitars.

What reverb (hardware or software) are you using? That acoustic + voice sounds nice!

Thanks. I would guess it was the Lexicon Random Hall (software), but it's possible I had switched to ValhallaRoom by the time I made this thread

I have it and it's nowhere near.

Damn, I'd be afraid to manipulate an R101/121!!!
I tried the RB500 on distorted guitars and it worked pretty well but in addition to a 57 i.e. I have a pair of Fathead with Lundhal transfo and this guys are great! I imagine they're not comparable to an R121 but still sound very very good yet affordable.

I much prefer the 121 sounds so much better. More balanced better mids and highs (y)
