I'm recording this band called Malthusia. Drums were recorded in a tinny shack in the drummers backyard where the band rehearses, so the only miced drums are little bit of natural snare and cymbals.

I still have some edits I need to make towards the end of the song, but mostly I've just been trying to get everything to gel together tonally.

Guitars were tracked with a pod and the DI, but I scrapped the pod tone completely and reamped using my proRMP into my 6505+ w/ Mesa Rec Cab. I tried something different and used 2 sm57's, one on the grill and one 6 inches back and -10db in the mix.

edit: little less 500hz http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/333261/Malthusia/To the Grave (7).mp3

also, do you think the guitar tone sounds weird? any tips are welcome!

kick is the bodom kick pitched down about 15% and the caliban kick equal in volume.

I live just outside of Fort Worth.

edit: thanks for the compliments! criticism is also welcome too.

guitars do sound weird.. they sound good.. but kinda scratchy like a pod or an impulse.. could just be how they picked.
