One of the best metal labels in the business right now. Of course, it isn't their efforts that led to several great albums, but I'm glad the bands are getting the support. Dawnbringer, Stargazer, and Ludicra... a very nice trio of releases. I also need to hear the new Kylessa (though admittedly I haven't heard much more than a few songs of their previous material, but I liked what I heard).

And this year was shaping up to be a disappointment...

Profound Lore rules. The Vasaeleth LP is my favorite death metal album of the year. The Hooded Menace full length is up there too. Castevet is one of the most interesting bands in US Black Metal and Krallice is doing some cool things in that style as well. So many good bands...I think I like just about everyone on their roster. Gates of Slumber, Altar of Plagues, Caina, PORTAL!!!

They also did Gates of Slumber's "Conqueror" which in my opinion is their best release.
Also, they will be doing the new Slough Feg.

I would like to get my hands on Dawnbringer. I remember really digging the track or two which was posted a while back.

Gotta get the new Stargazer. The Scream that Tore the Sky was fucking amazing.

I've heard of Dawnbringer, but have yet to really check them out. I will, rest assured.

I also believe that Agalloch is with Profound Lore as well. If ever I was a fanboy of a band, it's Agalloch. So boom goes the dynamite.

I love the Dawnbringer, as I did the previous one. It is a bit different, as there is less King Diamond moments on this one, still the writing is strong and concise. For people that don't know, its one of Chris Black's (Pharaoh drummer) other bands. Basically, everything Chris works on is worth listening to. Firebreath, I'm not sure why you find it boring. I'll agree that it isn't as manic as the previous album, and thus the energy is lower, but I still get immersed in the songs.

I don't need to look much farther than Profound Lore and Cruz del Sur for raw metal releases.

I'd like to agree, but the ratio of serious tastemakers to trendspotter hipsters is too unbalanced at Profound Loss since Bromley passed away.

CdS is pretty great though.

Seriously???
I hear people mention how Profound Lore is 'hipster' all the time.
What's hipster about Portal? Vasaeleth? Hooded Menace? Caina? Crucifist? Wold?

Really, the only bands the even get close to qualifying as 'hipster metal' on that label are Krallice, Amesoeurs, and Alcest. MAYBE Altar of Plagues.7

Great, great label, with excellent service-- I've been buying from him since the first releases and the all-vinyl days.

Every year there's always something new and interesting coming out from PL, or picking up with already-established bands.

Got the new Dawnbringer a couple weeks back-- it's even more 'traditional' than In Sickness and in Dreams, and is pretty excellent. Looking very forward to the new Agalloch from PL.

It's NOT the bands. It's the overenthusiastic but incredibly fickle hype-spinners who will quickly abandon the bands once they can do so.

How do you stay awake? I think that Agalloch does some great stuff, but dear lord it makes me sleepy.
