First off I'd like to say this is not one of those stupid fanboy posts.

I have had a bastard of a week, one I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Monday I had to do 2hrs of unpaid overtime because my boss got his ass kicked by his boss, so took it out on us. I then got in a yelling match with him where he threatened me with my job (I was in the right, I was asking him to speak to a co worker who spends more time on breaks then working)
I having been working there for over 2 years, and no one has a clue what I do outside of work, whether I'm single etc, someone else is getting married to a girl best described as a leech, and people are fawning over him as if this is the biggest event in history.
Then to top it off, someone i thought was a friend, was just using me to have someone to whinge too.
Its crushing.
But the good thing is, i can put on one of dans cd's, at the moment its UNICORN. and i can let the music take me away. it brings a smile to my face, a refuge if you will.
So dan (and co) THANK YOU.

Must be so nice as a musician and songwriter like Dan to hear stories like this. Just be glad there's great music like his to get you through a rough spot, we all have them, and know that it all should work out alright someday :)

\m/ now go listen to Katatonia - Discouraged Ones... the ultimate album to hear when you're depressed as far as I'm concerned.

Wouldn't depressing music make you more depressed..? That's at least what it does to me.
Keep listening to the joy of Unicorn instead! :)

Cerebus: for me not at all. I often play music of the mood I am in, and for some weird reason, the sad or aggressive music doesn´t enhance the feeling, it kind of carries and then absorbs it. When I listen to a lot of depressive stuff, after a while the feeling itself is gone and I want to start refreshed. Too happy stuff on the other hand makes me nervous after a while; but metal calms me down. It works really fine =)

I agree with fireangel, call me wierd but depressing music helps when you feel down. I just cant get into an upbeat song when ive spent the day banging my head into a brickwall, so something dark and melencholic actually helps, sads songs are almost uplifting :erk:
Thanks guys for allowing me to share, its theraputic to talk even if i do live on the other side of the world :loco:

*sending some groovy, happy vibes to Animal*

I can relate very much. I was dealing with a lot of things myself not too long ago, involving family, relationships, and my stupid Air Force tech school.

I listened to a lot of Unicorn myself, mostly A Collection of Worlds(Words?) Part I. I agree, it does help. I'd like to thank Dan a lot, too. :)

I just discovered Unicorn after reading an interview with Dan, and I must say that among the shitload of releases over the years Unicorn is a band that stands out. Most bands sound just good or suck, it's not very often I come across a band that really gets my attention.
Great work.

Dan is partly responsible for one of the most amazing tracks I've ever heard. 'Keeping Faith' from Diabolical Masquerade's 'Death's Design' is one of the shortest, greatest songs I've ever heard. The melody of his guitar solo is just beautiful. It actually makes me want to cry*.

*I'm too much of a man to cry though. Or not.
