I hear alot of distortion during low freq stuff with the comp, tom hits and a bass rumbling out seem to cause it to distort in a rather inpleasant way.. more people who noticed this?

I just tried the timeworks on my two most annoying mixes (mastering wise) and it sounded great, smoothed out everything really well. Useful for demo's.

I have the same problem with the S.T. Mastering Compressor - it's great for the snare but it murders my high tom if I push it. I think it might be that it likes everything to already be squashed a bit, and I tend not to use much compression on individual parts - if I compress the drums a bit more before hand it's not as bad.

Machinated: I just got the Kjaerhus demo actually, I'm just digging about to find some stuff to try it on.

Ah multiband and some compressing before the Masterworks helps yes.

The ST Mastering compressor is the best one out there for saving you transients. But it will distort your mixes quite heavily compared to an L2. Be careful with it, especially on tom parts!

I don't think the ST Mastering Compressor holds anything over Voxengo's Elephant. The ST MC distorts too easily and readily..
