Don't know how but whether it was my understanding of clipping or realising I was a dick with Superior Drummer 2 or just my rant I suddenly sort of...clicked and I am mixing much more how I feel happy with

maybe it was just this forum!

Anyhow this is an early work in progress on a song I have been waiting to record for a while

I think the guitars could be raised slightly but apart from that, it sounds good! I mean, there's like nothing WRONG with it, just a matter of taste. Sure, it's getting late, I'm tired and listening with a low volume but it seems to be fine. I think you should just continue writing and recording songs and stop thinking so much. Maybe your problem is that you are WAAAAY too systematic. Remember there is no right or wrong way to do anything, as long as it gets done.

yea cheers, well what I struggled with was getting stuff to be.. well I hate to say it, LOUD. As well as load of other things!

I didn't want to make it all loud but I kind get why they did it and now I can focus on recording and mixing and use those tricks in the future if I want, I would never dream of releasing stuff I mastered myself at this stage but I guess its like being an astronomer without the telescope, I just had to see how they get those pictures....

guitars could be louder the slower section needs sorting out, what I realise now is more of an understanding of what I was hearing.

I can feel a sort of peace from this at last!

Just a matter of taste, but I would lower the velocity on those hi-hats in the beginning drum section. They sound a little obnoxious at the volume/velocity they're at.
