That bomb that just detonated at center stage

It's almost unfair to compare most of the bands at this festival to Overkill. I'm guessing Overkill has performed more live shows than every other band at the festival combined... and it shows. They have a swagger that only comes from experience.

just got back from seeing Overkill. Great show and EOTL was played. Venue sucked but man I wish those Millennials would not be afraid to bathe or apply deodorant. Those armpits were rotten to the core.

Regarding strobe lights, the only time it was particularly obnoxious during Overkill's set was the soundcheck before they went on when they were blinding the crowd :P (And this is coming from someone who was basically on the barrier) Kreator is the only band i've ever seen who overdosed on strobe lights 24/7 throughout their entire performance. Maybe it's to distract people from the fact Kreator have been performing the same fucking setlist for ten years now. (new songs being added in aside)

Also, anyone who wants to get into Overkill, try out their first two albums - "Feel the Fire"(1985) and "Taking Over"(1987) first. Easily their most influential, and IMO, only 100% good albums by them. (other albums aren't necessarily bad, but there's always been a least a few stinkers on every album since - again, all IMO)

Don't agree - I think Horrorscope is still their best and quickest entry into the band. It's polished, it's heavy, and its got a lot of melodic parts that rock

If someone is into proto-power metal and Iron Maiden-y type stuff, guarantee Feel the Fire / Taking Over are a wiser place to start. If they're already open to thrash or heavier bands, then maybe other albums could be argued for. All IMO. :P

No one talks about Killbox 13 much, but IMHO that album is one of their better ones. Also, you can't go wrong with any of their newest albums. Ironbound, Electric Age, and White Devil Armory all get top marks from me. The live material at the end of the deluxe edition of Electric Age is especially good.

Maybe I'm spoiled because I've seen Overkill so many times over the years starting with Years of Decay tour..they certainly kicked ass but I totally expected them to, so it wasn't a shock at how well they went over with the crowd
