That crazy mechanical "Remembrance" sound

Hm, so it's a noise gate making that crazy cut off sound? Could be it. Especially since guitars are not at all present, which would mean that barely any audible noise comes through, resulting in a tighter-than-life tone, even though it's not 'tight' in the common sense.

The tail of the notes is being cut off very short. You can achieve that by setting a noise gate to cut the volume right after the attack of each note. At least that's how I would approach the guitars to get that result.

you can cut/edit the tail of the notes after recording and decide how tight you want it to be, like a manual noise gate, that sound is definitely unique tho... bass guitar plays a big part of it :)

I'm not always a big fan of the super tight-edited sound like that, but in this case it sounds fucking awesome!

I normally hate gates but I have never tried to use one to get that effect. I always just manually cut the ends off.
