The B.C. Rich 'stigma'.

Well one important thing. Those were custom made guitars, made to specs by the orderers. If you want to have a Moser with a slimmer neck the only thing you have to do is to order it like that. That is the beauty of having a guitar custom made.

I owned a couple of BC Rich guitars (yes, past tense, eBay is my friend.) I was very unimpressed with their overall build quality. I liked the pointy shapes a few years ago but as time went on I liked them a lot less. My biggest issue with BC Rich is the build quality though, unless you buy an expensive custom american model, they are unusable guitars.

That is fair enough. I am a pretty big hater of BC Rich imports myself(maybe except NJ Neck-thru series). But define expensive. I recently got a used(but in mint condition without any chips and dings) handmade USA Mockingbird with full electronics(coiltap, phase, varitone, booster, treble booster) set, original Floyd, mahogany body, mahogany neck-through, quilt maple cap, rosewood stringers, ebony fretboard etc etc. for 1250 dollars. This is pretty much as fancy and top of the line a guitar gets, but it is the same price for what I could get a used, CNC-made, USA Jackson or a beat-up PRS. So it really comes down to the preference. Unless you have to buy a guitar new you really have bang for the buck options for BC Richs.

I got an ESP LTD MH 400NT for $650 out the door (would have been the same price with a floyd, I don't like floyds much anymore) with hardshell case, mahogany body, maple top, maple/rosewood neck and EMG 81s. It's amazing. Best value out there, it beats any guitar I've played, and I've used many that cost way more.

I shouldn't have to spend over $1000 to get a great guitar. I also shouldn't be able to spend $600 on an NJ Virgin and have a totally unusable axe that won't stay in tune and sounds like shit.

Again I agree with you on your second point, NJs are really expensive for what they are. The newer NJ series are pretty crappy. If you don't want spend over a grand that is ok. LTDs are good for the price range and I don't want to comment beyond that really.
