Fretless Fender Bass for Metal?

If you can play fretless well then it's great, but if you've not got a natural ear for intonation and pitch then a fretted bass is better - I'm lucky and find fretless just as natural as fretted but some great bass players I know can never play a fretless as well as they can a fretted bass. Of course, a little bit of vibrato goes a long way to cover up for light inaccuracies in pitch.

I'm going to pick up a Warwick Corvette Std fretless 5'er for a few of our tunes (power metal) early next year, strung with flats they have that amazing mwah (think Jaco with even more mids) tone that sounds amazing behind clean guitars. With roundwounds and a heavy right hand technique you can get a nice deep clank (think Steve DiGiorgio)
