5 string bass in the $200-$250 price range.

Can't keep borrowing basses from other people forever..

Am looking for a 5 string bass in the $200-$250 price range, and was wondering, for the money, is there anything better than this available?

Does it have to be a 5-string?
Because AXL makes an awesome stingray clone:

We have one in the store, and i think it feels and sounds great.. although i guess it would be better with a pickup upgrade.

yea i'd definitely prob. only go with the rondo basses for that price

that, or see if there's any decent squire 5-string jazz basses in that range

Rondo is great. Go with that. If you aren't sure about the sound, you can do a pickup upgrade.

Yeah, I kind of do need a 5 stringer because I'm playing mostly in A standard.

I checked a couple of the local shops, but they didn't have anything in this price range used, so I figured I might as well get something new then.

Good to hear about the Rondos. I have an Agile 828 Intrepid and I'm pretty happy w/ that, so I guess I'll get a bass from them as well.
