Those are both very good solos, neither would even be on the radar for me in the "best guitar solo of all time", though.

Outside of that, of the two, I prefer the Painkiller solo.

I'd have a very hard time coming up with my one all-time favorite be-all/end-all solo, but if you held a gun to my head, I'd probably go with Comfortably Numb as well. I certainly can't think of a solo I'd consider any better or more perfect for such a timeless tune than that one, anyway!

metallica - one

windowpane - both solos, goddamnit, the first one might be "so-so" its good but maybe not the best. But it feels like it loads up untill the next which is just brilliant I think

Comfortably Numb
Anything Friedman does on Rust In Peace
Any solo on Joe Satriani's Surfing With the Alien
Hammetts amazing solo on Dispoable Heros
Andy LaRoque on Individual Thought Patterns - Overactive Imagination or Trapped in Corner
Smith and Murray Stranger a Strange Land
Trey Azagthoth Where the Slime Live
Jeff Loomis This Godless Endevour
Phil Campbell the clsoing few minutes of Killed By death (No Sleep at All live album)
Necrophagist - Symbiotic in Theory
Alex Skolnick Over the Wall
Opeth - Wreath/Leper Affinity/Fair Judgement
Rocky George any solo on How Will I Laugh Tomorrow or Emotion No.13
Pretty Much any solo from Whitesnakes 1987 album is just WOW (esp crying in the rain) John Sykes....but i never found out if Vandemburg got to do any of the solos

I think one of the greatest solos of all time is by John Petrucci.... In Dream Theater´s Under a Glass Moon...

Great solo... makes me kinda nostalgic for when Dream Theater wrote actual music!

What, no Guthrie Govan?!

lol

Sorry to say this, but you've included Mike and not Gilmour. While I love Mike's style, I have to say that Gilmour totally SHITS on him. Well, but the "crusty old bald faggot" isn't up there with Al Di Meola, isn't he? :erk:

EDIT: wtf, I'm retarded, I was thinking about Paul Gilbert when I read Al di Meola :erk:^n

I dunno about "shitting on" but he is a slightly better player. But in terms of solo's Serenity Painted Death's has always been one of my absolute favorites. As well as When, Deliverance, Funeral, White Cluster, Godheads.....etc.
