I do agree on the Behemoth similarities with FA though. Same deal with HoP, though they did more mid-Morbid Angel worship on the new album.

Before I say anything else i want to say i really, really like Fleshgod.
BUT.
I really don't think they have that much classical influence. The "classical" bits seem like they're bolted on.
and without being a genre whore, they aren't brutal death metal, they just like to blast.

Couldn't find a myspace for Last Trauma but FA slays all the other bands you mentioned imo. Nothing comes close to their melodic brutal death because everything is so perfectly well balanced. I hate melo death because it's too fucking melodic the way 90% of the bands play it. I hate brutal death because it's nothing but noise. FA combines both worlds AND replaces all the happy bullshit melodies with classic music and the end result is just pure tits.
Almost all "scales" or "modes" on almost all riffs in FA are based on classical music the way I hear it at least. It's not the standard 0-1-4-1-0 shit most bands play
Edit: In other words, if you would re-write FA's music with violins and shit it would pretty much become classical music with a twist.

I think the only thing they draw from is classical melody. But the playing style is very much the standard tremelo, pedal point then sweep type thing.

the only thing death metal fans should be listening to right now is portal, impetuous ritual, gorguts, and keenly awaiting the next atheist album, or listening to shit from the 80's and 90s >:{
the thing about fleshgod is they sound like a thousand other bands, at least decapitated had a sound so identifiable that you could go "yeah that's decapitated" after 5 seconds of their music. fleshgod apocalypse just sound literally like hundreds of other bands with nothing to identify them from anyone else, i just dont see the point in listening to a band when they have no personality.

I am looking forward to the new athiest and gorguts, even though i wish/hope there is going to be more straight up death metal on the gorguts. (the new song sounds incredible though)
also.. do you know if Kelly was able to write any stuff for the new record? or can he literally not play the guitar ever.

Last Lost Soul is awesome and this album is simply the best Hertz studio release with OH from Decapitated.
For Hour of penance, I don't know witch album you have listen but two last album kickass. And sorry to be a dick but FH is a brutal death metal band
