The Best Year of Music Ever

With all the nostalgia threads popping up, I began asking myself, what was the best year for new music ever?

1983

I was in the 6th grade and had no idea what this year would mean to modern music. Here are some releases from that year...

there are probably more\

2008 is the best year in music. We've got all the recordings made in the past, and the number just keeps growing. This is absolutely the best time to be alive, so far, for someone who listens to music.

This is not a retroactive idea. Obviously, thanks to the Internet we can listen to what ever the hell we want. The point being there were lots of "household names" and albums, that showed up that particular year, and looking back I think it's very interesting.

^haha, I dunno, I haven't got a standout year, there is gold in all. In terms of the last few, 07 was pretty incredible, dso, alcest, akercocke, ulver, eluvium, radiohead etc all put out fantastic material.

I have to go with '84. It was, for me, the year I really discovered music. I was 10, and all of a sudden, music just seemed soooo good. In retrospect, it was pretty good. I liked all sorts of stuff, even then. But the track that made me most excited was "Jump" by Van Halen.

For me, 2007 was definitely a year that blew me away.. It was probably the actual first year where i actually thought to myself 'this is an awesome year for music' ..

There have no doubt been far more important years for music in terms of .. Changing not only their respective genres/scenes, but changing the world at the time and retrospectively... But 2007 was a great year for me, as is 2008 as it has bore an album i'd already consider one of my all time favourite albums!

Ahaha come on.. How could it be any other album!?!?!!?!/!/1?1/1?1/1/!?!?!

..Another important year for me.. in terms of music.. Would have to be 1996, as that is when Fatboy Slim released 'Better Living Through Chemistry' .. Which i didn't buy at the time.. But was when i started getting into music and i really enjoyed his music. Then his 2nd release was where i fell totally in love with music..so 1996 and 1998 were very important for me due to 2 releases.
