Trying to document what black metal was/is/will be is trying to expose the very core of mankind's rottenness and expecting people to understand that this overwhelming darkness can be used as a constructive force, based on the idea that when all is black you can see the stars much more easily. The public cannot grasp this concept. A book cannot do it and a movie can't even hope of achieving it.

All we'll ever get is pure, senseless entertainment.

Mankind likes to be entertained, not educated."

Of course, I want to see this movie. I'm actually amazed that it's even supposed to be made, at all. I think it's a pretty big deal that this much attention will be given to the scene, the genre, etc...

Your thoughts?

I'd like to think that it will be good, but it will probably be junk.

I also kind of disagree with the quote from bravewords because i don't think black metal was trying to bring the darkness so people could see hope or light on the other side. I think it was inspired by evil and rebellion against everything supposedly good or accepted. Black metal was and in its purest form should be about fear, evil, and deconstruction of what modern society stands for.

Varg completely shits on this book, he claims it's full of lies and inaccuracies. All these movies and books just go over the same things anyway, church burnings and the Varg/Mayhem stuff.

I think it will be total shit, a total joke, and make a huge mockery of the Metal genre. It will probably get some decent attention because that Twilight fag is in it but it will likely portray Black Metal- and thus, all Metal and listeners- in a horrible and inaccurate light.

But, I could be wrong. I hope so, actually.

Probably going to be awful, which is a shame. If they had cast somebody else to play Varg, I would have a little more hope for the film, but nope, they decided to cast a damn Twilight actor.

I'm interested to see how big of an event this will turn out to be and what it will mean to the metal world during an otherwise slow, hard year. I personally found the music of BURZUM to be underwhelming, especially considering the hype and the image, the fame of the name, the slick artwork etc... He was like the right guy doing all the wrong things at the wrong time, and it got picked up and took off, and that's what people remember the most. I will be interested to hear what kind of music a guy like that might make after all these years, 11 years of silence, 16 years in prison, lots of time to think, there, etc... I can only hope for some maturity, some wisdom, some growth after all of that.
