Yeah, its from the Legacy comics, darth krayt consults a number of sith Holocrons, one of them Bane's. Its not very accurate because:

1) What you said
2) I'm pretty sure Bane didn't finish making a holocron until after he rid himself of the bug things.

Definitely! I like that author though. He was the senior writer on Bioware for the KOTOR game (which has an awesome story). And apparently there's one more Bane book coming out next year!
