Bestselling author and fan-favorite Timothy Zahn will return to the Expanded Universe of Star Wars novels with a new full-length story to be published by Del Rey Books in 2011. The new tale of intrigue and action is set in the time of classic Star Wars trilogy, not long after the events of his previous novel, Allegiance. The legendary heroes return -- Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Chewbacca -- along with some of Zahn's most popular creations: Thrawn, Mara Jade and the Hand of Judgment stormtroopers.

The book is as yet untitled, but is slated to debut in fall of 2011, the year that marks the 20th anniversary of his first Star Wars novel, Heir to the Empire, the blockbuster book that launched the modern era of Star Wars publishing

If you just woke up from an eight-month nap, you may not have heard the news. The rest of you know that comics are coming up on the horizon of one of the most important events in Star Wars history: the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.

In May, the first chapter of the new comics series Invasion will debut on starwars.com. Writer Tom Taylor and artist Colin Wilson (Rebellion: Small Victories), present a story of two deep space explorers who encounter one of the Yuuzhan Vong armadas.

In chapter two (in June, also on starwars.com), the two explorers risk everything to warn the inhabitants of the planet Artorias -- which is the path of the Yuuzhan Vong attack.

In July, issue #1 of the comic book hits the stands, with a cover by artist Jo Chen. The Yuuzhan Vong arrive on Artorias, attacking without warning. Along with the introduction of the Galfridian family, who will become major players in the story, this issue also features a well-known Jedi Master . . .

Events in this new series will weave in and out of the events from the New Jedi Order novels, building on the foundations laid in those stories, as well as presenting for the first comics visualizations of the Yuuzhan Vong and their biological weapons and technology.

And then, in issue #2 -- ah, er, sorry. It’s too soon to tell you about that. Let’s get through July first!

So, stand by for an announcement near the end of April that will tell you where to find the free chapters of Invasion online at starwars.com!

Now there is officially no reason to read the NJO books.

Also, the Dark Times series returns from its hiatus next week, lookin' forward to that.

Anyone seen this? The "Final Trailer" for the KOTOR2 restoration project, from several months ago:

And there was a progress update last month after a year and a half of nothing. Seems that they're getting close to a full public release (and is there a better form of release?!). The leak from a while back is pretty awesome, so I'm looking forward to the full thing.
