The Contortionist "Exoplanet" - Any info?

I love the guitar tone so much and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the production.



Seriously, these guys are rising up the ladder of most admired bands. Pending on their next release, they could pass BTBAM.

lets start with incredible musicians
drums are real - tho Im pretty sure snare and kick are samples

the bass player has an impressive rig - but I dont know what he used in the recording
same with the guitars

The bass was absolutely soothing throughout. IMO, the snare was a little small.
I love the sound of it though. It's not too much like mainstream, yet it's still incredibly enjoyable and that's weird because I really don't like bad productions.

Especially when bands do it to make a statement. :S

Amazing CD! It would be interesting and awesome to find out if Ken did EVERYthing by himself...

They have a couple videos on their youtube page from when they were recording the "Apparitions" EP. I think all those songs made it to "Exoplanet" though. In those studio vids they were using 5150s, but on "Exoplanet" it really sounds to me like they're using PODs. I don't know, it just sounds too digital to me. Oh well, still one of my favorite CDs from last year.

I saw on UG that they recorded with 5150III for everything but the cleans.
