Because awards shows aren't about musical talent. They're about what the mainstream suck down on a daily basis. If a record sells, they win an award. Most "musicians" that win awards rarely even write their own music. Awards shows are fucking shit.

If I remember correctly, Tool won a grammy (or some kind of award similar to that) and didn't show up. Afterwards they refused to accept it. Maynard had said something about the grammies and everything surrounding them, but I can't remember what.
