The Cure

I dare say they go in non metal, but yeah, I like the Cure.

Try Joy Division and The Smiths...

Oh my god! All three of these bands were the faves
of my younger brother. I had to listen to this stuff
from age 13-19...
That's hard time, man.
Robert Smith & Morissey...
Two that are on my top ten of no talents...
Here's another band that lil' bro used to "torture"
me with...
Sigue, Sigue Sputnik(?).
Duran, Duran...
Adam Ant...
Siouxie & The Banshees...
I have all this shit permanetly logged into my
memory bank. I would love to erase it!
Mp3 you say? No! 6 years of hard time!

*ignores*

As for The Cure, what's your favourite album? Mine's Disentegration, followed closely by Pornography...

Hola! I'm new here but I just wanted to chime in that I'm a HUGE Cure fan! I own like every album and tons of bootleg live cd's and so forth! I've seen them live twice! I know they aren't metal but they are a great band I think.

they used to be great in the 80s, and even a tiny bit into the 90s. If you want other great music like the cure (who at their peak were what you call gothic rock), try:

Fields of the Nephilim
Joy Division
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Bauhaus
Strange Boutique
Corpus Delicti

Especially reccomended are strange boutique's the loved one and siouxsie's juju, if you want something very musically close to the cure (lyrically the cream of the crop as well)

Also if you haven't heard Faith and Pornography, those are the cure's most important works. The Top and Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me are probably the other great 80s albums, though not particularly dark/conceptual.

oh, and my favorite cure album:

pornography, easily! I would love it if more metal artists had the literary prowess equal to that album. Its so rife with despair and unique imagery, i feel energized each time i hear it:

"it doesnt matter if we all die
ambition in the back of a black car
in a high building there is so much to do
going home time
story on the radio"

suicide never sounded better ;)
