Why have they placed it during school term time. At this years there were loads of kids who are clearly young enough to be at school who will really strugel(sp) to make it next year. Thankfully next year I will be taking a gap year between school and uni so I'll make it, but I think that they will lose at lot of ticket sales due to this.

I imagine it's simply the case that Bloodstock is held the weekend after the August bank holiday, which next year may happen to fall during term time.

I don't think it really matters that much, considering it's still taking place at the weekend and realistically, only a minority of those who attend are of school age.

Shame really, cos I started going to gigs when I was 13. In our group we had one kid of 14 and another of 17/18. The 17/18 year old couldn't make the first day because he was already back at college.

Of course it's a shame if people can't make it, but realistically you can't schedule a festival to fit into everyone's diary.

Remember, a lot of those who attend Bloodstock have jobs to go to on a Friday, so it's not just the younger fans who have a problem.

It's unavoidable though.

The Bloodstock Festival will always take place after the August bank holiday which in 2004 falls on Monday 30th August!! hence the date being 3-4 Sept (i.e. it is the exact same timeframe as this and last years show).

If we had it the week before - a clash with Reading / Leeds festivals is inevitable. We suffered with Bloodstock 01 as it was the same weekend as Ozzfest - so the weekend we have chosen is clear of all other festivals (including the european ones), and can be remembered as "the last major festival of the season" also.

Cheers

Vince

This will be a celebration of sorts for me, it marks the end of school life! But ive been going to concerts from age 12 or 13 and always make time even on school days

Whoot Great Time, Really Lookin Forward To Gettin There And Seein The Gig Next Year This Year I Was Very Very Very Excited And Loved Every Second (even During Paradise Lost I Was Meeting And Greeting Fulc And Gettin Signatures And Gettin My Jagermeister Inflatable Bottle :)yay So That Made Up For The Bordom:) Lol
The Only Bad Thing To Happen Was I Got My Rock Soc Pass Robbed On The Friday But My Girl Gave Me Hers As She Didnt Need It Neway So It Was Ok... All In All 04 Should Be The Best Date

It's possibly going to be a problem for me unless i am working in the area ( which is a great likliness) but it still proves a problem for making it to the regular BLAZE camp.

i am a primary teacher so i cant see me being able to get a day off to come - especially as it IS so close to the start of the year!

GRRR at this. . then again tho.. i guess that it would be pointless on putting it the week before cuz some people would choose reading over it.

no way it could be the week BEFORE?

Just my opinion and im not criticising yours but
Personally i do think it matters.
ive been every year and in the first year there were probably about two small kids there. this year in our group alone there were 5 kids all under the age of 13 and they loved it!

i also saw a hell of a lot more kids around that werent in our group.

if it keeps on going like that - its gonna do a lot of good for the future of REAL metal. both those people who are fans.. and also those who then get an ambition to play real metal - and keep it alive.

I do see your point, and I most certainly agree with you! I for one noticed a lot more kids at this years festival than I have previously.

However, as Vince said, it's begins to cause problems if the festival were to be moved to another weekend. At least with it being at the end of the summer, younger fans don't have the problem of their parents dragging them away on holiday while Bloodstock is on!
