We all have a specific day in our lives that will forever change the outcome of the rest of our lives. What was your most profound day and why?

Mine was March 16th, 2003.

So I guess you could say you haven't reached that day yet. Change is a gradual process, you're right, but in everyone's life something happens to them, good or bad, which forever alters their lives forever. At least I hope it happens to other people as well because to just gradually morph into something would suck.

Well really you could say that every choice you make changes your life, because every time you take an opportunity it means you're abandoning the next best option. Getting a new job, making a new friend, moving, things like that can drastically change your life, but it sounds more like you're talking about a single moment that makes you reevalute yourself and change the way you think. And I don't think every single person has a day or a moment like that.

Wow that's exactly what I'm talking about. It's hard to put into words for some reason. A single moment of clarity where you can actually see the rest of your life.

Actually, I have two. The first is the aforementioned but the second was June 8th, 2003. That was dependent upon the first one in order to happen but at about 11:00 pm that evening my life changed forever.

Well then it isn't really just one magical moment it? :saint: Lots of things change who we are, and obviously some are going to have more significance than others.

Not that I have anything against people sharing their life-changing moments, I just have a hard time believing in the idea of any one absolute, like the ONE moment that changed your life or the ONE person who you're supposed to fall in love with. That kind of stuff support the notion that things are "meant to happen", and I can't get behind that.

yeh im kinda onboard with isabel here, dunno if i have anything that drastic in my life....

that day in the late 90s when i borrowed Slaughter of the Soul from my friend who bought it blind cause of the cool cover and listened to it while i was driving to/from the chiropractor's office (my first 'extreme' metal listening experience)?

Wow.. this is a subject, I think about A LOT. Like, what has happened in the past that made the things the way they are right now? Understanding why things happen.. with one event following another one and another one etc.. And what would have happend, if one event hasen't happened, the way it did... In "The Butterfly Effect" this subject is addressed, as far as I can remember. It's been a couple years since I've seen it. Also, if you've seen "Benjamin Button" there's the scene where they show the sequence of events that happened before the woman's major car accident. I love that sequence! It makes you think.. what if one of these things did not happen, she would have not had a car accident... Her life would have had a completely different outcome.. !
... I can't stop thinking about this kind of stuff.. !!! :Spin: I'm always very good a finding a rational reason for every little thing I do.. I need to justify everything I do, because I don't want to regret anything.. lol. Til now, it has always worked very well for me..

Basically I agree with what Isabell said, but there're also a couple of days I can think of, that made me re-evaluate my entire life.. The last one was actually Nov 3rd... Not long ago, but I totally feel like it has changed how I view my life.

When my house was raided by the FBI, in 2000. No, it was not related to drugs. It was a non-violent, federal conspiracy-based crime performed by my father's business partner (at the time, obviously).

Story goes much deeper than that but that was the start of a downward spiral filled with me dropping out of school, parents divorcing, father going to federal prison and alcoholism.

First, my grandfather died, second, my grandmother died, third, I was laid off from a job of 11 years, third, Alex and I moved from Maryland to Ohio. But I did change a little each time, my grandmother passing away was the most hurtful. But, each event changed me gradually, and life will never be the same again.

The very first time my lung collapsed. Late 2000. I was 20. That was when I realized how fragile life can really be. It's a cliche, but it's a cliche for a reason. I always knew that life could be taken away in an instant, but it never really sinks all the way in until you have an experience that confirms it.
