The Devil Wears Prada sells 30,000 units first week(#11 on billboard top 200).

it was also a book before that...and TBH, i've just been waiting for the day that they get sued over their name

if it happened to green jell-o, it can happen to these guys - and i'd bet the chances just increased tenfold by cracking that high into the charts

+1

Joey's not givin out anything.

not only that, but i doubt he uses the same settings on each project

TBH, i don't understand the fascination with other people's presets on here...i can understand maybe seeing someone's settings for something if their shit is doing something you can't comprehend, just to get an idea how...but fuckin' a, how hard it is to tweak some knobs(virtual or otherwise)

Fixed ;) You know there will always be people looking for a quick and easy path to good tone! (but of course, once you step down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will!)

well, i'd agree that the preset thing is sort of all over the place...but it seems really pronounced on this forum - i can't even count how many times(daily!) i see people begging for presets, patches, screenshots, etc...

again - i'm not saying that isn't at all useful - i've had a couple of epiphanies as a result of seeing other people's screenshots...seeing stuff they do that i hadn't thought of previously - but i'm still not going to rip their exact settings - especially in regards to something as fickle and arbitrary as guitar tone!

2 thumbs up on this one just had to post to say that.....

thanks everyone.

unfortunately no producer points. but i was well compensated for my work.

i think we accomplished exactley what we set out to do, which is something i can't really say for every record.

we had the perfect amount of time, and accomplished every goal. i'm pretty proud!

actually titles, of books and movies and songs, can't be copyrighted. you could put a song on your album called "The Devil Wears Prada"... you could name your band "The Day The Earth Stood Still"... etc.

even the band Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky that i recently produced and mixed for Nuclear Blast took their name from the text in a William S. Burroughs book.

and good going Joey, i'll have to check this one out.

I personally have no problem with posting screenshots of my settings, cos I like giving back to the forum that's given so much to me, but I also advocate people paving their own way with dialling in guitar and bass tones. It's like an engineer's rite of passage IMO. It's all good having a little nudge, but it's something you have to do for yourself, and that's what sets apart the men from the boys.

cool - congrats!

[can't say I like the name; makes me think of Meryl Streep; what image it is supposed to invoke otherwise?]

Indeed.

Although I appreciate screenshots of great productions as much as the next guy, I find that they rarely provide anything that I can actually use in my own work.

Guitar settings won't work, since I'm using completely different amps, cabs, mics, pickups etc, and neither will snare settings since my snares sound completely different.

etc

But I will still look at any screenshots posted, on the off chance that something in there will spark some idea that will change the way I think about recording. Still waiting... :p

About the protecion of the band name I think James is right.

But another thing that came to my mind...
...where do all that horrible band names are coming from?

"Devil wears prada"
"Job for a cowboy"
....

are all the cool names allready taken or is this a special trend I don't understand?
I mean compare Job for a cowboy to..
Death
Grave
Carnage
Necrony
Nihilist
Manowar
Bloodbath...

Also Cannibal Corpse sounds more brutal than The Devil wears prada.

p.s. Good job Joey :)
