this is an old BB game.. but always fun.

create your "dream band" of living or dead artists.. my only rule is only one person per band..

I'd say:

Stanne (vox)
Schuldiner (guitar)
Jeff Loomis (of Nevermore; guitar)
Martin Lopez (drums.. his work on Deliverance is godly)
Cliff Burton (bassist but moreso for songwriting influences)

if such a band were to exist and pool their collective musical and songwriting talents it would be the end of metal, b/c everyone else would just put down their instruments in frustration at being unable to match it.

..let's hear it

I'm sure I have answered this on UM at least once, oh well, fuck it, here's mine:

@|ngenius: i'm even more amazed by your superb musical tastes. :D three members of Dream Theater (my favourite band).

Miolo (have to check out Gotthard very soon  )

@Miolo: The very first time I listened to Gotthard, I got disappointed. I thought: "Yes, a good voice, but it's the typical american hard rock, maybe just faster". But after that I listened to "Open" and "Home Run", their two last works, more melodics and with special stress on the voice (my favourite part), I rapidly realized about the extreme quality of the band. The first works are also quite good, I love their whole career, but I fell in love with them thanx to a song called "Reason To Live".

But bear in mind that Gotthard is NOT a progressive band, just hard-melodic band. ;)

Edit: Moreover, Gotthard seems to write their lyrics exclusively for me, I feel kinda close to the things that they depict in their lyrics.

A very classic line up, Mr. Alf, indeed. It's Joe LYnn Turner, I'm afraid, and I've seen him twice recently, in the HTP Tour (he resembles a folkloric singer, but he still sings so well). I also met Don Airey a couple of years ago, and he's a freak myth, so reserved (almost that time). He played with Deep Purple too.

Btw: I'm searching for the Fandango works featuring Turner, if you have them, please contact me. Thanx. (And don't forget to check out the first Stuart Smith album, with Turner and Kelly Hansen).

|ng (Too classic)

Well, it's classic depending on the eye you're looking from: if you look to the other "dream bands", you will find very young musicians. If you look from the eye of a Beatles fan, J.L Turner and Roger Glover are modern death metal musicians. :p Regarding the "Dio" era, I must confess that I prefer even Doug White than our old little man Ronnie James. Yep, I'm an unsacred betrayer, but what can I do? That's what I think. Moreover, Richie Blackmore is quite classic, isn't he? ;)

About Airey, he played as a guest appearance (and also toured with) the british band TEN, so I thought he was fired/departed from Purple.

Edit: Hey!!! I've reached the 1000 posts, and I didn't realize!! Argh! :(

yep, with the bass genius Sean Malone and Fates Warning's guitar player. i expect this album to be a masterpiece, the only thing i'm worried about is Kevin Moore's vocals.

talking about Ten, i have two albums of them, "Spellbound" (which i love) and "Babylon" (which i don't know so well, i haven't listened to it so much actually), is the rest of the discography worthy?
