I get what you are saying.
Simpler way to accomplish what you are doing is the way I normally work on low end.
Solo the kick and sweep an medium Q boost and find the low end punch of the kick (usually 60-80).
Boost this slightly then cut with a parametric above that (around 100-130)
Cut the bass at 60-80 where you boosted the kick and then boost the bass at 100-130 where you cut the kick.
Allowing the 2 of them to be prominent at all low frequencies will eat headroom and obscure clarity.
