what price range are you looking in? A used Mesa F-30 can be found at killer prices right now on ebay. Even if you don't like it, you could just as easily turn it around and make back whatever you spent on it.

Anyway, I have a slab of mahogany for the body and a couple chunks of maple to choose from for the neck, as well as a maple board for the fretboard. I have templates to build the old JPM model (which I dig in a huge way) and that's what I have reserved for the mahogany. I also have a slab of swamp ash, but it's only 17" long - I think I'll design something custom for that. Perhaps all the way from the start of layout through total build.
