i picked it up because i liked Tobias' work in Edguy.

the album really isn't anything spectacular as far as power/epic metal is concerned, but the plethora of artists is cool.... along the lines of Ayreon albums.

Avantasia is very kewl loving it heaps apparently there's gunna be a metal opera 2, maybe involving Hansi from Blind Guardian!

Yeah, it's power metal in all its over the top glory. I think the reason why Kiske is credited under a pseudonym is that his vocals are at times almost indistinguishable from Tobias. Best songs on it are Sign Of The Cross and Serpents In Paradise.
