An oldie, but still a goodie. We can never have too many of these discussions.

Anyway, I was listening to "The Legend of Huma" t'other day, when my mother came in from the garden and demanded to know why "they were singing about 'My Honda'. " The tragedy here is that I'm related to this woman!

Not that I'm entirely blameless. For years I thought the pre-chorus in "Rock n' Roll All Nite" was "new people shout it..."

Before I really got into to Megadeth, I only knew 2 songs. Peace Sells and Hanger 18.
I had no idea of any of the lyrics to Hanger 18 but did catch a few in Peace Sells that really made me think

What do you mean I support my sister?,
I'd go and court her if I had to!

And I though... is this guy for real? Singing 'bout incest..

Another Megadeth song... when Kill the King came out myself and a LOT of other people heard the line which actually is

His idle hands, the devil's workshop
Generate more smoke than heat

to be

His idle hands, the devil's workshop
Generate more smoke than cheese

If any of you have visited the Deth BB you may have seen the following...

 GENERATE MORE SMOKE THAN CHEESE

I still get a chuckle out of seeing someone post that...

Also on megadeth..in symphony of destruction.. I think thats it, when dave goes..you try to his pulse, it sounds sooo much like:

Youuuu try too take his ballllllllllllssssss before the head explodes hehe

When Deep Purple tpured in March, I spent 4 hours chatting to bassist Roger Glover in Adelaide.
He told us that Smoke on the Water causes some of the weirdest 'misheard lyrics' ever.
Like in Japan, there was a request for
"Slow Motion Walter, the Fireman in disguise"
when its really
"Smoke on the Water, and Fire in the sky"

He also told us about stupid reporters asking ridiculous questions about that song, because it is all they know.
One of the funniest was "Is it true that Deep Purple once set fire to an island?"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's a new one!

It's been changed to "Banana...." in the past and that works pretty well! I still much prefer the alternate lyrics to it: "The Legend Of Homer" which starts off as "D'OH....." instead of "Oh..." :)

My other fav. of ours is Wake Up which gets changed to Wanker all the time! Have a listen - it really does sound like we're singing that! HAHAHA!

As far as other songs goes, has anyone tried to work out the lyrics to Queen Of The Reich? When we were covering that for the first time, we didn't have the lyrics so the first lot we half-figured out were as funny as hell!

"Flying high through the night she will hide your fate as she takes your soul from under" became "Flying high through the night she will hide your feet and she takes your sofa up her!"

In the immortal words of Rove... "What the?!" HAHA!

Ozzy osbourne on a documentary said he always thought "excuse me while i kiss the sky" in purple haze was "excuse me while i kiss this GUY" I couldnt stop laughing when i heard that!

You know the AC/DC song Fire Your Guns on the Razors Edge album? Well in the chorus they all shout 'FIRE' my mate who was fully into AC/DC serioulsly thought they were shouting 'FU<K'

I got Helloweens "The Dark Ride" last week, and I thought that the lyrics to Mr Torture were something Stupid like:
"Mr Torture brings pain with his whips and his chains.... Dial 18 double 0, Mr Torture"

Then I looked in the booklet..... and these were the real lyrics!!
Haha.......... Speaking of Cheese!!

Awesome album all the same

Heheh, I remember thinking "More smoke than cheese, eh? I thought Dave was off the drugs!". Then I read numerous amounts of amusing threads about it. :)

I've got a knack for changing perfectly good lyrics into offensive alternatives...

for example: in Nightwish's "Gethsemane", Tarja sings "will easter come into my room?" but I ALWAYS hear "release the cum into my womb".

heheh I even do it to my own songs. In Titanium's "The Lost Soul", Stuee sings "looking hard within your eyes there is nobody there"... I suggest that he should change it to "looking hard within your thighs there is no pubic hair".

I am a very sick man.

In "Move On" by Kiss... up until I read the lyrics on Kiss Asylum about 2 months ago... In the part that goes "The time is at hand, the day is upon us", I thought "the day is upon us" was "millions of pornos" HAHAH!

In Nightwish's Dead Boy's Poem there's the line

`Never sigh for better world
It's already composed, played and told...'

When I though it was `It's already compost, played and told.'
Heheh. A little aside, there are some funny (cheesy) intros Matt says (Matt I said, NOT Jon :D)
For example:

(Introducing The Hunter): `Well! We've gone through hell together now! Felt pretty fucken good didn't it! But there's no reason why we can't go up into the heavens right now! Is that okay?'

And (introducing Desert Rain): `Let's take a walk now....through the desert....and watch the rain....come falling down! This ones called Desert Rain!'

And funny old Ace Frehley at the Kiss gig: `This ones from Rock n Roll All Over or Love Gun...well, it's off a Kiss album.'

ha! Ace did something similar at the gig I was at -

Paul: This is a song that Ace wrote about the power and glory of electricity
Ace: Power and glory? I dunno about that.. I got fuckin' electrocuted so I wrote a song about it. Shock ME!

Geez what about Maiden - Number of the Beast.

"Were they reflections of my warped mind staring back at me."

I still sing, to myself of course, that as

"Were they reflections of my walkman staring back at me"

When I first heard "Drifter" by Iron Maiden, I was sure Paul sang:

"Gonna cuddle up to you tonight, gonna get you feeling so secure"

But then I checked the lyrics... and that's what he's singing! Is this the only metal song to have the word 'cuddle'?

Not so much when I listen to The Book of Thel, but when I sing it in my head at other times, I always sing:

"Where you gonna run to now?
I like small things made in China.

Where you gonna run to now?
My cat's got a big vagina."

Now obviously it's nothing like that, but that's what always comes into my head! :)
