The Music Biz Can't Stem the Bleeding...

I don't use vynil....dumbass.....

I prefer mp3's for listening to music, but vinil is cool for collecting and stuff, the packaging is fine and is actually preferable over jewel cases to me... cd's take just as long to be delivered as vinel
i'm almost tempted to rep you for how absurdly funny this is. funny and asinine

I can find a good selection of vinyls here in SF, so I do prefer vinyl to CD buying, and downloading mp3s until I get my hands on the vinyl. If its some out of print or limited vinyl then I'll just buy the CD instead of paying an ass load on ebay or something. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have Amoeba Records up the street from them though.

lol @ buying mp3's when they can be gotten for free. The artwork and having the actual cd with the art and how the band intended it to be is the only reason i really buy it rather than download it. The bands say they are doing it forthemselves. And so am i.

You have to be joking... 99c for a track and you're laughing at people who buy online? You can't possibly be that tight.

Dude? You have two Amoeba music stores near you. One in SF and one in Berkeley. If they're anything like the one here in LA, then it's got a pretty good selection. Especially with two of them there.

^plug again, please.

I probably wouldn't have remembered to check this thread again, but someone PM'd me asking also, so I'll basically just copy/paste my response:

Lala.com: Trade CDs for $1, Listen to great music

it's not gonna be for everyone - as in, you have to send to receive. lucky for me (and probably for a lot of others) I had/have a lot of CDs from when I was younger that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole anymore, and this is a good way to get rid of them. if you got the ammo to trade, you virtually get free used CDs ($1.75, like I said - that's even with shipping). you can specify whether or not you want artwork

the system requires patience, of course, but pays off. I've been using the system for about 4 1/2 months now and have received 22 CDs thus far, which would be 1-2 CDs a week

if you do not choose to trade, the prices in their store can be incredibly cheap anyway. as an example: Nick Drake - "Five Leaves Left", $6.99 + $2.15 shipping. and yes, that is new, not used

edit: lol umm... all I put was the lala URL... does it do that for every URL now? that's kinda funny

I don't know honestly... I just now tried to look for the FAQ but couldn't find anything pertaining to the subject. sorry, if that's the case :(
