so... when is it coming out?

:tickled: ok, I couldn't resist. Just kidding

Seriousley, the question we all have to ak is: "is it going to leak, like the new Exodus and Death Angel?". That seems to happen too often and I'm really starting to worry. Every band would probably like to promote the album the way they had planned, make a release party where the songs would be heard for the first time etc. Meanwhile some fuckers deprive them of this possibility. Needless to say that it also drastically decreases the sales- someone downloads it and then forgets to buy, buys something else that he hadn't downloaded, doesn't like it much enough to purhase, waits til he's got more cash instead of buying it on the release day. So not only do they spoil the surprise, but also steal the band's intelectual property, money and... fame ('cause we all know how important the sales are even in metal- more airplay, bigger venues, headlining festivals, more press etc.= more recognition = more fans)
This has been some kinda plague lately. Thus I'm asking how can\will the band\the label\we prevent the new record from leaking. Is there anything that can be done? Or must they keep the songs in secret untile the album is released (no promo copies for the mags and radio stations etc.)?

I apologise if that's a stupid question, but I'm really concerned about it.

I find it hard to believe... and to measure, but even if that were true, the eventual leak would still be undesirable, wouldn't it?

This kinda shit allways happen..

But the real fans will allways buy the albums anyway..
Only the fags download and never buy afther the try..
Fuck that~!!:headbang:

No doubt about that. I'm pretty sure that everyone from this board will buy it on the day it's released, I wouldn't be sure about the rest, though. And they're also important. (and I don't want it to sound like on the Anthrax board, where everybody's like "make voting for Anthrax and telling people how great they are and forcing them to buy their records your aim in life" :D )

While I'm sure precautions are being taken to make sure it doesn't get leaked before its done (and since Testament isn't quite on the Metallica level, I doubt that would even happen), I cna pretty much guarantee that unless some new technology comes out that prevents ripping (and isn't crackable by using a sharpie... o_O), iti'll probably leak as soon as promos go out...

Either way, I'm not even gonna look at the artwork, let alone fucking download it, till it is released! :headbang:

Let me manage the release. I'll make sure nobody hears the songs until Testament wants them too. The trick is limiting the number of magazines and radio stations you released advanced copies too. The ones that want an advanced copy would need to pre-sign a nondisclosure agreement whereby any mp3's leaked online would represent a copyright violation of Testament's intellectual property. A violation of the agreement could result in a lawsuit from Spitfire. No magazine or radio station in the coutry wants to get sued. They would be carefull. They just need a little legal encouragement sometimes.

why not just send out a 1-3 song promo like they did in the old days?? anytime someone gets a promo (and I mean the media), it gets leaked. Your idea of a nondisclosure hasn't worked yet....

A good point of that is the new Machine Head, I've had a burned copy for a long while, and I just picked up the new disc yesterday. I like having the art and extra songs.

I'm with you HL. Like Demonic said, real fans go out and buy the cd once it's released. I'm sure Testament has their own legal eagles that can do what Steiner said.

Why be so worried anyway unless you have a personal interest in it?

I have one ripped CD, IM's Brave New World, and I never did buy the original.:Smug: It's a copy from a co-worker. Back in the day you'd just dub a tape from your friend, but the difference is that then at least one of you had to buy it...

I don't know. I just wouldn't like to see my fav bands get ripped off, because they're working hard to provide us with great music... besides that's a profession just like any other and hardly anyone would like to work for free.

Agreed. No one wants to work for free but I don't think anyone would go broke over this. Have you bought any Testament wearing apparel?
