WELL I BOUGHT THE NEW DIMMU BORGIR AND IT FUKING KIKS ARSE IT HAS TO BE THE BEST ALBUM I HAVE BOUGHT THIS YEAR NILLY AND I LOVE THE VERSION OF BURN IN HELL THE OLD TWISTED SISTER CLASSIC
IVE BEEN LISTENING TO IT FOR 3 WEEKS SOLID AND I CANT GET ENOUGH ANYONE ELSE GOT IT? RAMSAY IM BRINGING IT AROUND WITH YOUR ,OPETH CD AND DIO ,LAST IN LINE ,YOU HAVE PROBLY BEEN MISSING THEM HAVENT YOU?

:deb:  :p

Ive heard others raving about that album too, but i cant stand death metal vocals, and i think thats what they are like, am i right or wrong? Is it normal singing or deathmetalcookiemonsterchokingonacatgrowling (tm)??

Im asking because i might buy it to see what the fuss is about, or maybe ill get some mp3s first and see......any recommendations?

I used to hate the death metal cookie monster vocals, but I heard a band by the name of Opeth (maybe you've heard a certain female here mention them once or twice?) and I changed my mind.

Give them a go - I have one Dimmu Borgir album (Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, or something) and it's not bad, but I only listened to it a couple of times before I bought Children of Bodom's "Hatebreeder" and never listened to it again because I forgot all about it :) A lot of these bands sound just like your normal metal bands, with the clean guitar sound and stuff, except that the vocals are cookie monster-like. Doesn't bother me at all - in fact, I enjoy singing along to them!

Try In Flames (I'd recommend "Colony" for starters), or the aforementioned Children of Bodom and Opeth - great stuff!

Oh, and I haven't heard the album Mr Crowley mentioned - sorry :)

Thanks spiff, i have colony and clayman from in flames (love the music ESPECIALLY bullet ride, WHAT a riff!!!, but i can listen to it anymore, the vocals are just bad for the sake of being bad) and blackwater park from opeth (on the recommendation of that certain female you mentioned  )
I downloaded a couple of cob songs and the music ruled but i can stand the vocals!

Methinks i need to get a vocal remover or something for those albums :D Not blackwater park though, he doesnt go off the deep end with the death style vox on that one

well the vocals arnt like dark throne and not as high as cradlef filth,to try and tell you is hard its like cradle but slower and not as hard to understand it is pretty clear but brutal it is very guitar and classical sound together, this might suprise you but in parts he does sign in a normal voice and it then sounds the same as blind guardian !
i was amazed it comes out of nowhere then back to brutal, they arnt scretchy either if you get what i mean.they could do a blind guardian album bloody good i think.
i also love how the production is perfect and the orchestra fits in really well to create a really moving atmosphere......hope that helps......i actually bought the album to see what all the fus is about and hoped it wasnt another death band that was average i was very wrong and that says a lot for me as im very selective to cd s i buy now cause im sticking to favourites now instead of getting all new bands ( getting old and set in my ways) ....give it a go

Dimmu Borgir aka Demon Booger are black metal, not death. Not everyone takes them seriously, but I reckon they rock.

The new Dimmu kicks arse!!

There is a difference between black metal vocals and death metal vocals. I prefer black metal. The vocals that bands like cannibal corpse have kinda annoy me, but dimmu and children of bodom etc I dont mind at all.

I never used to like them vocals either till children of bodom changed me mind :)

But yeah Dimmu rocks...the forst proper song on the album..cant remember the name. Holy shit it kicks arse! :D
