Hey everybody!
I must say after browsing these UM forum thingys for the last week or two, this is easily the funniest damn forum of them all. You guys crack me up.

A big heartfelt congrats to the Kayo Dots for easily the best album of 2003! I can't think of anything that even comes close to the genius of Choirs of the Eye. I've listened to that cd ALOT since the day it was released and it just keeps getting more and more amazing with every listen. Turn out the lights, light up some candles and put the headphones on (life is good).

Questions:
1. How the hell did Scott Hull end up with mastering duties?
2. How's the album selling? & Is there a website that tracks TOTAL sales?
3. Where can I get my hands on some backup copies of Bath & LYBM? (I don't want to settle for just burning copies)
4. What kind of reactions have you been getting at your gigs?

Let's compare notes:
Here's a few bands I've gotten into over the last couple of months that are worth mentioning.
The End, Radiation 4, Glass Casket, Horse the Band, Alchemist, These Arms Are Snakes, Yakuza, oh yeah...I recently bought Zappa The Yellow Shark (performed by the Ensemble Modern)...HOLY SHIT!!!! I can't stress how awesome this cd is, THIS IS A MUST OWN!!!! Trust me, if you haven't heard this YOU WILL LIKE IT.

Fuck I'm out of time. I've gotta clock back in from my lunch break and go back into slave mode.

2. How's the album selling? & Is there a website that tracks TOTAL sales?

I was wondering something along the same lines the other day. In less than 2 weeks, the album will have been out for 6 months. How well is it doing up to this point?

which "The End"--the metalcore type band or the head-bobbing, water-sipping sampler guy? (I saw the second dude open for Melt-Banana and Fantomas on Tuesday )

i would like to know the answer to #2, also, so maybe the Kayo Dot members can weigh in. since i've attended a bunch of gigs, i guess my impression from the crowd is that people are generally quite into it or quite confused. and it seems to depends GREATLY on whether it's a Kayo Dot show primarily or if they're part of a larger bill with different fans. at pretty much every show, though, there's been at least a handful of people who just have this blown away look and come up to the KD guys and are like OMG THAT WAS SO AWESOME, though, which i think is really cool.

Thanks for your "gig reaction" input. It seems kinda weird to me that Kayo Dot would play in some little clubs that can't possibly accomodate their needs, but I guess you gotta start somewhere.

Scott Hull just happens to work with Tzadik a lot, so it was actually the label's decision on the mastering engineer/location. This is not the same Scott Hull from Agoraphobic Nosebleed, btw.

Bath & LYBM - ebay, maybe? otherwise pester Dark Symphonies to repress them, if you're in the mood to talk to walls. Apparently they claim the reason they're not repressing them is because there's no demand.. so I guess if they're shown that there's a demand then logically they'll repress them? Is that farfetched?

How's the album selling - I do not know

Fuck you! I want to see that bill, Patton never comes up north for some reason, with Melt Banana, awesome night...

Yellow Shark is very good (as most Zappa is) but I tend to like Civilization III and Lumpy Gravy a lot more. It seems to lack the impact that a lot of his solo stuf has.

i was not really into "the end" we saw. just, you know, strung-together samples.

but fantomas was KILLER, and i liked melt-banana, too, although i kind of wish it was a much smaller club. and they were the last act, so i could've pushed up front and not worried about standing in a shitty spot for the next 3.5 hours.

Man I would kill to see Fantomas!!! Mike Patton is the man. I was in awe of his performance when I saw Mr. Bungle on the California tour. This is depressing... (I recently read an interview with Patton and he said the chances of Bungle doing another album is very slim, mainly for logistical reasons). fuck

FuSoYa...I actually saw LYBM on the Dark Symphonies clunky-ass website but contacting an actual human seemed kinda difficult. I want to confirm they actually have it before I start clicking on buttons and playing the charge card game.
