The new Megadeth album...

@ jimbobhickville...

I just noticed your location... you're only around 30 minutes from me. Didn't think there was anyone from UM in this shit area, heh.

I didn't get the remasters 'cause Dave re-recorded some vocals and they sound terrible. If he'd just remaster the discs, I'd be all over it.

Haven't even noticed....I don't think he's touched any of the vocals on the first 3 releases has he? (How could he, it would be so obvious - he was like 19 when he did the first album), and those are the only ones I really care about.

In terms of new quality, I will say that the first 2 remasters are 10/10. I would say SFSGSW is about a 9/10...."In my Darkest Hour" has lost some of it's original crunch.

But the remaining tracks like "Liar", "502", "Mary Jane", "Set the World Afire" (with the original trumpet section put back in) sound pretty extraordinary IMO.

It may have just been on Rust in Peace that he did that. Those were the samples I heard, and I cringed. I have the Killing is My Business remaster, and I agree that it sounds a lot better, except the bleeped out These Boots cover. Maybe I should try the Peace Sells and SFSGSW. I'm 90% sure he couldn't make Symphony of Destruction sound any better. That thing had a badass production job.

@EricT: yeah, not too many of us from Utah. Tooele is more like an hour from here. How'd you end up in that middle of nowhere place?

Drugs.

Err, got moved out here by the old mans job a few years ago and have been contemplating self castration for entertainment ever since.

so SLEEPWALKER and its killer fucking intro and middle of the song breakdown riffing gave me little girl goosebumps this morning ... totally cranked it in the car on the the way to work.

megadeth never had this effect on me ... that's a testament to the goodness of this disk. :kickass:

I'll contemplate this. I was not a fan of Youthanasia, and I sold that album back in 1997. I'll check out some samples, but I keep hearing the good reviews.

It's far more traditional sounding that "Youthanasia" was. I don't think Zod was comparing the styles of the albums, but merely that "Youthanasia" was the last album they released that's worthy of your time.

My personal favorite since "Rust In Peace". Well worth owning.

kkkhrist o mighty I forgot just how much this album smokes. Fucking riffs in the first track, Sleepwalker, are out of this world. Total top 10 album, shame on me for forgetting.

In other news, Chris Broderick of Jag Panzer is now the new 'Deth guitarist. That could be quite a mighty fine combo. :D

Indeed - one of the most underrated albums of the year.

Has this actually been confirmed? I heard it was just a rumor for now. If so, good for him, but I'd still much rather hear him in Nevermore or Panzer.
