Not hit. I think he got shoved. It was more a "shut up, I'll do what I want" kind of drunken stupor before he realized it was Glenn, or someone pretty important. There was about 2 seconds between the shove, the look of terror, and the general mauling. The guy obviously was escorted out. I got to watch the whole thing from the stairs G. ended up flying down. It sucks that sometimes the crew/boss want to just have a good time and watch a set and something like this happens, but it makes for a pretty amazing story.

I followed this line of logic:

1. You are passionate about Avantasia
2. You believe that a one off Avantasia show would sell 1,200 tickets in Atlanta.
3. You believe that these tickets would likely sell for $150 a pop.

ergo:

4. You believe that $180,000 from ticket sales would be enough to cover all expenses for an Avantasia show.
5. You believe one of the following three scenerios:
5a. You would profit from this venture.
5b. You would break even from this venture.
5c. The losses incured would totally be worth it.

Also:

6. You know damn well Glenn and/or Shane and/or whoever is running the Festival and it's many subsidies will never book Avantasia.
7. You are not willing to give up on it.

Therefore:

8. An option is to put the show on yourself.
9. Get while the getting is good, so to speak, round up the Progpower attendees and Schedule a one-off on Sunday night. I would have suggested Tuesday, but I think you'll get more people on a Weekend, even if the following day is Monday.

I'm guessing you're not aware of the fact that I, in no way whatsoever, have the connections and means to make this happen? Not even close. If I had any experience with booking, promoting, contract negotiation, visas, etc, etc - maybe. But I'm just a schmuck who loves music and was just discussing what I thought about the subject. I'm not trying to start a crusade.

I'm a Chicagoan at heart, but after the last two years I've been to ProgPower in Atlanta, I would have to agree that there is no better city for this, not to mention that of all the venues I've ever been to, Center Stage is by far the best in my opinion.

Center Stage is perfect for ProgPower USA. It reminds me of some of the old dirty bars I went to back in college (gasp - it's been almost 20 years!) where I some great bands in some really out of the way places. I don't think I'd take the better half to Center Stage during PP USA (she is one of those people who'd complain for the sake of complaining) but I don't mind it a bit. The atmosphere is what makes PP USA the fest that it is

After all, how many times did Glenn make his annual "How it came together" post and include something along the lines of "Fates Warning don't even blink at me?" Now I'm just hoping that he'll have to make an amendment to that answer somewhere down the line with the addition of Shadow Gallery.

Riverside- To this day, my crew & I still laugh about it. We had to build NASA’s Mission Control Center out of 20 year old church organs, recycled titanium, paper mache, and shit I have never even heard of.

If I remember correctly one of the band's keyboards had a very odd look to it that was made out of a bunch of different things. I think that's what Glenn is referring to.

It's a problem with progressive rock keyboardists, basically. They all dreamed to work for NASA as kids. Turns out that the closest thing they could find to that was playing keyboards for a prog band.

Here's an example: Keith Emerson (and I had to suffer through his set during Nearfest, it almost made me wanna kill myself).

There were some very specific and hard to find gear requirements - off of the top of my head (not looking at the gear rider) I think it was mainly a Hammond B3. A real one.. with a Leslie rotating speaker (f**king fragile nightmare to transport and make sure it works)..... s**t that was used back in the 70's/ (think Deep Purple key sound). The Leslie has a motor and belt that actually spins two speakers mounted at 180 degrees from each other (looking down, picture the shape of an hourglass) which rotate towards the mic.. makes a specific sound .
It can be replicated with digital keys, and LIVE you would NEVER hear a difference.. hell, even in the studio with the right EQ's and tube preamps, it might be hard to discern the difference..

anyway - from a non keyboard tech - that is part of what I remember...
