Yknow, the scary thing is that if I listed all the non-metal that I like, it would be even longer than your list there! So I think I shall just list the stuff that I listen to the most often and most recently. Alot of artists I also may like more particular albums or eras of theirs, so I will mention those.

Here goes.....

The Beatles (particularly 'Revolver', which might just be my favorite album of all time, period.)
Roy Orbison (1958-1967 particularly)
Adam Ant (1977-1985)
The Cure ( a favorite!)
Genesis (Gabriel years)
Yes (esp. 'Time and a Word' and 'Drama' albums)
T. Rex
The Thought Industry (one of the most tragically overlooked bands ever)
Radiohead
The Pixies
Sex Pistols
Black Flag (Rollins era)
The Misfits (1977-1983)
Duran Duran (original lineup era, 81-86)
This Mortal Coil
David Bowie (all!)
Roxy Music
Fleetwood Mac (I like all of it but I'm particularly fond of the early Peter Green/Jeremy Spencer years)
Big Wreck (awesome canadian band)
Cheap Trick (a given)
Kiss (another given)
Dead Can Dance
Crash Test Dummies (esp. 'The Ghosts That Haunt Me' cd)
The Church
The Guess Who
Badfinger
GooGooDolls (earlier stuff, Metal Blade years)
Mary My Hope ('Museum' is another all time fave album)
Lunachicks
The Byrds (esp. the Clarence White era, '68-'72)
Pink Floyd ( 'at Pompeii'. Wonderful!)
The Police
The Ramones (an all time favorite)
Supersuckers
Foo Fighters (the best pop-rock band to achieve success in the 90s, in my opinion)
Tal Bachman
Peter Murphy
last but not least, I will say that I listen to my Bill Monroe box set, that Mary & Matt from Penance gave me for x-mas a while back, all the friggin' time, and there's some mean ass mandolin and banjo pickin' going on there!! Yeehaw!

Sad thing is, this list doesn't even cover half of it. I'd probably have an easier time listing the metal stuff I listen to nowadays. I'm much more selective these days about the heavy stuff I really enjoy.
:)

My list could go on forever and ever as well, a few...

Alanis Morissette
Tori Amos
Enya
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (really awesome Big Band swing stuff, great to listen to when cleaning the house:) )
Lenny Kravitz
Jewel
Fiona Apple
Kenny Wayne Shepherd
No Doubt
Madonna (new and old)
Reel Big Fish (fun ska band, that "make ya happy" music when you are tired of being oh so dismally metal:p )
Nina Gordon (ex-Varuca Salt, who knew she could actually SING and not WHINE!?)

That's enough for now...I don't wanna bust a brain cell.

:D

like many of you, if I were to list all the non-metal I like, it would take forever. I'll just list the genres I don't like to save time and not name a bunch of artists... so

genres i don't like are...

gangsta rap
fusion jazz (kenny g, yahnni, shit like that)
manufactured music (limp dickshit, backdoor girls, lip'sync, christina faguilera, etc)
stupid overly-satanic crap (you know, where every other lyric is either "hail satan" or some backward-talking crap)

well, that's about it for what i don't like

yanni is jazz???? i didnt know that???? and in all honesty has anyone even ever heard yanni... cuz i can honestly say i dont know if i have ever

Yanni more accurately would be considered new age, or by some as new age jazz, etc.....Whatever. He's talented at what he does, its just not a very exciting form of music. Whereas I think some jazz can be really exciting and interesting.

Also, I'm thinking I need to check out some Fiona Apple, because I see several of you listing her here. I didn't like her at first but I remember seeing her perform live on some show a couple years ago, and she was good.
