The Odyssey being made into a movie

just though everyone would be interested in knowing that the Odyssey is being made into a major motion picture....it would be AWESOME if SymX could get their Odyssey into the closing credits or something....or placed on the movie's soundtrack...since it follows the tale PERFECTLY....though, because of the length of the song, it is more unlikely than seeing Metalium's version on there, and THAT is unlikely....

Edit: Oh, yeah, the news was on http://filmforce.ign.com .... Look on the sidebar for "The Gods that Troy Forgot"..

Acutually the oddeysy was made into a Mini series a few years ago, with Armand Assante as Odesius, which i thought was pretty good. and if I remember correctly the music for that mini series had the same vibe as SX's version

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard Sean Bean will play the part of Odysseus, as he did in Troy. :kickass:

Yeah, some kind of Symphony X credit would be cool, but thats very unlikely to happen, I think. And I hope this time they will stick closer to the original than they did in Troy.

Yeah, I remember I had recorded the whole mini-serie on VHS. Armand Assante did a great job being Odysseus.

Sean Bean is the best actor ever. If you were in the UK a few years ago, you may have had the honour of seeing the best drama/war series ever - Sharpe - which starred Sean Bean as the title character who went around kicking arse in the Napoleonic war.

Blind Guardian didn't get any credit in LOTR. I don't see why you guys are holding any hopes for THIS one.
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, so I'll clarify - I think they meant the Odyssey should be played over the end credits. Incidentally, it would make absolutely no sense to play it over the opening credits as they'd have to be 24 minutes long and tell the story before the movie started. I suppose you could just have MJR's orchestral intro. That would be pretty cool.

Anyway, the big deal is that if they could make as good a version as was done with the mini-series with as small a budget as the mini-series was given, then just imagine a full-blown hollywood special-effects bonanza with the CGI that is possible today to that same story, without any of the cheese prevalent because of having to hide behind cheap effects....basically, imagine "The Odyssey" with the budget of "Troy", and with Sean Bean, not Armand Assante and his "Beard-of-many-colors" as Odysseus....
