An amazing band with a truly unique sound and one of the greatest frontmen ever.

For me there are two Joy Divisions. "Unknown Pleasures" is an underpass with iodine streetlights through Manchester at night. "Closer" and "Atmosphere" are the city’s gothic revival cathedral and the moors around the Pennines.

Joy Division are my favourite band, by quite a margin.

There's a simple transcendency to the music, it's never failed to move me.

Funny Anecdote: I saw New Order a while back and as they played the breakdown in Love Will Tear Us Apart (which I fully expected to be a pivitol moment in my life!) Hookey growled across the P.A - "Here we fuckin' go!". Which, needless to day, wrecked the moment.
