The Official "You've-Gotta-Check-This-Band-Out!" Thread -- PROG METAL

I'm really looking forward to Andromeda's new album. To be released June 2006. Hopefully they will be at the next progpower.

It's my turn to say what Barking Pumpkin would say:

If it was unique it wouldn't be prog it'd be progressive, prog basically means Dream Theater sound alike for the most part.

I like my Dream Theater with a little Evergrey on the side:rock:

Scar Symmetry has been kicking my ass of late!

btw imo "prog" implies the dream theater type thing, trying to be complex to fit the genre or simply being that kind of music. wheras "progressive" implies actually breaking new musical ground. honestly i prefer the latter, but there is also "prog" as in 70s rock bands like king crimson, yes, genesis, etc. seeing how the title is "prog metal" i can safely rule the 3rd option out as a possible intent, and we are left with the first two, which really are similar in a lot of ways. i like my share of prog metal bands, although i do prefer more than complex time sigs and epic tracks to keep my interest
