The original "Planet of the Apes" is on!

Day of the Triffids..... wasn't that the one where the mutant girl shacks up with the old bloke?
Ummm... No. At least I don't think so. 'Day of the Triffids' is about a bunch of poisonous plants that can move and communicate, and they take over the world after everyone is struck blind by a meteor shower.

Actually gore, thinking back to reading the book in like year 10 at school.... there was a girl who was sent blind by the nuclear war (that also caused the triffids). She was left with the old bloke by her family and went on to breed a whole clan on mutants, which became the next generation of "humans".

Then again, I could always just be confusing this with something else...... someone around here has to have read the book!

I studied The Chrysalids in Year 9. Brilliant book and I couldn't believe it was on the reading list because my arrogant wanker of an English teacher always said he hated science fiction .

I read a couple more John Wyndham books back in those dim dark days as well. Chocky rocked the house, and my Mum recommended Day of the Triffids to me after she pointed out the similarities between that and a Doctor Who story called The Seeds of Doom.

I always wanted to read The Midwich Cuckoos (and watch Village/Children of The Damned) but never got around to either. Or Planet of the Apes for that matter. God I'm slack .
